~STRESS~

Everyone from time to time experiences some level of stress in everyday living. We need to learn relaxing techniques and good eating habits that will be beneficial for our overall well being.
When we are in a stressed situation our body goes into a "fight or flight" state releasing the hormones cortisol, DHEA, and adrenalin which channel the energy to be able to respond to the current situation. The hormones when released improve our oxygen and glucose supply to the muscles which in turn improve our mental and physical energy. It is a design that helps us in truly life-threatening situations. Your body slows down the digestion, repair, and maintenance on the body in order to channel all the energy to deal with the stress. As a result of pro-longed stress it speeds up the aging process, causes disease of the digestive system and causes a hormonal in balance. Who wants this??? not me.

Some ways to cope with stress
*When a stressful situation arises take 5 long deep breathes and really think what is the worst that could happen. And it's usually not worth stressing about.
*Morning or evening Yoga-deep breathing exercises energize the body
*Prayer or meditation helps to calm and slow the mind
*Proper eating habits-fruits,veggies,nuts,grains,water(stay away from sugars they stimulate the production of cortisol)
*Exercise-too much can stress the body but not enough is harmful. MODERATION
*Simply slow down and don't let life pass you by

Foods for stress
*Nuts(almonds, pistachios, and walnuts)
*Blueberries
*Spinach
*Tuna (preferably fresh)
*Oranges
*Bananas
*Sweet Potatoes
*Brown Rice
*Avocados

~Don't worry and stress about things when you can not control the outcome!
